Julia Trickey’s virtual talks with botanical artists are always illuminating and are followed by artists and others around the world. Join Carol as she takes viewers on a journey through some of her fascinating projects featuring orchids, showing how she creates field studies of plants that must stay where they are. She’ll show how she uses these studies in the studio to create fully realized watercolor paintings on vellum, and demonstrate some of her techniques of drybrush layering. Carol has had a never-waning obsession with painting orchids for decades and is continually surprised by the unexpected projects and travels it inspires. She has painted on vellum since the mid-90s and taught her techniques internationally.
